Class Details

American Rhythm East Coast Swing is an upbeat partner dance known for its bouncy energy, rock step rhythm, and fun turn patterns. This all-level 4-week series welcomes both beginners and experienced dancers, making it a great place to build foundational skills while continuing to improve confidence, timing, and partner connection. Throughout the series, dancers will develop rhythm, footwork, leading and following, and social dance patterns that make East Coast Swing feel fun, accessible, and dynamic. Whether you are learning for the first time or strengthening your basics, this class offers a supportive environment to grow your comfort and versatility on the dance floor. Week 1 Basic, Closed Turning, Underarm Turns, and Lead Left Turn Week 2 5th Position Breaks, Throw Out, and Tuck In Week 3 Cradle, Hammerlock, and Shoulder Checks Week 4 Continuous Tucks and Sliding Doors NOTE: Progressive courses gradually layer new concepts each week and provide time to review and build muscle memory. It’s an effective way to improve as a dancer while becoming more confident, connected, and comfortable in social dancing.

Notes About Classes At Nexus

• We strongly recommend booking in advance to streamline the check in process. • If you drop in, please note you will need to sign the liability waiver so plan to arrive earlier to do that. • All group classes at Nexus SLO are taught progressively each month so we recommend coming for the full series to get the whole experience. • No partner or prior experience is needed unless otherwise noted (such as for intermediate-level classes). • We rotate partners often to help everyone learn, but you're welcome to stay with your own partner if preferred. • No special shoes or equipment required—just come ready to move and have fun! Cancellation Policy: Cancellations/rescheduling for pre-paid group lessons must happen at least 24 hrs. in advance or you will be charged the full amount. There are no refunds for pre-paid group classes, but if you have an injury or illness that won’t allow you to participate, let us know and we will give you a credit for when you can return.
