Class Details

New, 2-Level Ballroom Series Each month, we focus on one classic rhythm or nightclub dance in a clear, progressive format. • January: Rumba • February: Cha Cha • March: East Coast Swing Two levels available. No partner required. Start where you are and build real confidence on the dance floor. Rumba (American Style) Smooth, expressive, and romantic, Rumba emphasizes body movement, connection, and musical interpretation. Often called the “dance of love,” it’s a foundational rhythm dance that builds control, confidence, and fluid motion. Cha Cha (American Style) Playful, energetic, and rhythmic, Cha Cha is known for its sharp footwork and syncopated timing. This dance encourages musicality, quick reactions, and a light, flirtatious style that’s both fun and dynamic. East Coast Swing Lively and upbeat, East Coast Swing is a joyful, energetic dance danced to a wide range of music. With its bouncy rhythm and social feel, it’s perfect for building confidence, connection, and all-around dance versatility. Levels Explained Level 1 – Fundamentals Designed for beginners or dancers wanting a strong foundation. You’ll learn basic steps, timing, posture, and partner connection in a progressive, easy-to-follow format. Level 2 – Technique & Progression For dancers who know the basics and want to refine technique, improve musicality, and learn more advanced figures with greater confidence and control.

Notes About Classes At Nexus

- We strongly recommend booking in advance to streamline the check in process. If you drop in, please note you will need to sign the liability waiver so plan to arrive earlier to do that. - All group classes at Nexus SLO are taught progressively each month so we recommend coming for the full series to get the whole experience. - No partner or prior experience is needed unless otherwise noted (such as for intermediate-level classes). We rotate partners often to help everyone learn, but you're welcome to stay with your own partner if preferred. - No special shoes or equipment required—just come ready to move and have fun! Cancellation Policy: Cancellations/rescheduling for pre-paid group lessons must happen at least 24 hrs in advance or you will be charged the full amount. There are no refunds for pre-paid group classes, but if you have an injury or illness that won’t allow you to participate, let us know and we will give you a credit for when you can return.
